The current process is broken.
2-7 days · $50-$200 · forgeableEvery Reg D 506(c) issuer needs to take "reasonable steps to verify" each investor is accredited. Today, that means waiting 2-7 days for a CPA or attorney to review uploaded W-2s, write a letter on letterhead, and email it back. The letter is forgeable, the process is slow, and the cost runs $50-$200 per investor.

Why no CPA letter is needed.
17 CFR 230.506(c)(2)(ii)Rule 506(c) requires "reasonable steps to verify" but does NOT require any specific verification method or any third-party professional sign-off. The non-exclusive safe harbors at 17 CFR 230.506(c)(2)(ii) explicitly include three alternatives:
- Income pathway - review of IRS forms (W-2, 1099, K-1, Schedule C, Form 1040)
- Net-worth pathway - bank and brokerage statements with credit report
- Professional pathway - written confirmation from a licensed CPA, attorney, RIA, or broker-dealer
These are alternatives, not stacking requirements. AccreditedID Income satisfies the IRS-form-review safe harbor with cryptographic chain of custody to the IRS itself. AccreditedID Net Worth satisfies the bank-statement safe harbor with institution-level Plaid pulls. A CPA signature on top of an IRS-direct pull is theatrical, not substantive.
The Pro tier preserves the professional pathway for genuine edge cases where source data is not available (foreign nationals, complex trusts holding illiquid assets, entity accreditation with valuation requirements).

AccreditedID provides verification services intended to assist issuers and investors in satisfying the "reasonable steps to verify" requirement under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D. JIL Sovereign Technologies, Inc. does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. The Court-Ready Evidence Bundle (CREB) produced by AccreditedID is a cryptographically signed attestation of source-pulled data; final determination of accredited-investor status is the responsibility of the issuer. AccreditedID Pro tier engagements involving CPA, attorney, RIA, or broker-dealer review include attestations from licensed professionals; those attestations are the responsibility of the issuing professional under their applicable license. JIL is not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, or law firm. CREBs produced under FRE 902(14) are self-authenticating records of the underlying data pull; admissibility for any specific legal purpose is determined by the relevant tribunal.
